Sam Choy


Sam Choy is Hawaii's most famous chef. He is one of the 12 chefs who created Hawaiian Regional Cuisine, a culinary movement that changed eating in the islands. Sam’s cooking is a hybrid of Polynesian, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, and European influences, combined with what he calls local-style cooking.
He is the author of several cookbooks, including Sam Choy’s Kitchen, Sam Choy’s Sampler, The Little Hawaiian Cookbook For Big Appetites, Sam Choy’s Cooking with Kids, The Polynesian Kitchen and A Hawaiian Luau With Sam Choy and the Makaha Sons. His latest book is entitled Aloha Cuisine.
Sam hosts his own television show in Hawaii, Sam Choy’s Kitchen, and has appeared on the Food Network, Good Morning America and The Today Show. He has several restaurants, including one in Tokyo and one in Guam.
