The Well Designed Kitchen
Ilene CrouppenToday, the kitchen is often considered the center or heart of the home. It is by far the most complicated room to design or remodel because there are so many decisions to make. The way you design your kitchen will also impact the rest of your home because it is connected by traffic flow, doors, windows, walls, floors, etc.
In this three part series you will focus on creating the right kitchen for you, one that is both functional and attractive. Students will learn to approach their kitchen remodeling from both a design and a culinary perspective. Principles of space planning will be emphasized and Ilene will talk about the latest products available for appliances, flooring, plumbing, cabinets, lighting, etc.
Elements of the “green kitchen” will also be explored including ventilation, non allergenic surfaces, gas, electric and water consumption.
Phyllis will discuss specific products and methods of cooking that save energy. She will tell you how to prepare and store items more efficiently to save money and cut down on waste. She will also share some recipes and tastes.
