Westlake Culinary Institute

Professional Program

Our Professional Program Classes are designed for individuals thinking of a career in the food industry as chefs, cooks, caterers or other food related personnel. They are also recommended for individuals already working in the field who would like to develop more practical knowledge and skills. Serious home cooks are also eligible to take these courses.

We will hold a free orientation class entitled Exploring a Professional Food Career on Tuesday, August 12 at 6:30 pm for all potential new students who would like to learn more about our program.

In November we will be presenting the Professional Pastry Course with Mary Bergin. This course is designed to teach the basic techniques needed to begin a professional pastry career. In January of 2009 we will have an Advanced Professional Pastry Course.

This Professional Catering Series is offered in the Spring to those individuals thinking about catering as a potential career and it will also be valuable to those already in the field who wish to expand their knowledge and gather new resources.
